For January 2019, been pondering what I should write about in my Ponderings. 2018 was an interesting year, and it is the past and I like to be future focused. Yet, being future focused is not the intention that I want either. I want to be in the moment, live in the moment, focus on the here and now – that whole mindfulness thing. Whether it is an amazing meal that I make time for between meetings or a short walk with my dog Buddy – I want to be more mindful. Listen to the trees sway in the wind, watch the snow fall and be amazed at the diversity of birds that come to my suet feeder.

Think back to when you were a child. Did you enjoy drawing, coloring, painting, making something from clay or decorating your room? How did you create? What did you create? How often do you do that now? How long has it been since you have? Do you ever wander through a craft store to just see what is out there?
Winter is the PERFECT time to explore your creativity again… so buy that drawing pad and colored pencils or pick a room in your home that needs a face lift. Set aside a couple hours and see what happens. This is for you… I call it creative puttering… giving yourself the permission and time to just do it. Not because you have to, not because you have a deadline – but simply for the joy it can bring.
The Heartland Wellbeing Institute was created from the desire and intention to offer experiences and opportunities that support wellbeing. To make the time to remember who we are, why we are here and what we want to do about it. To offer practical and simple strategies to engage in what is important to you, what brings you joy and how to incorporate these activities into your daily life.
Is it a walk in nature, listening to the wind swirl through leaves of a tree or learning something new? Do you enjoy writing, reading, yoga, meditation - and want a community to have creative conversations and experiences?
